POPE LEO XIV SURPRISES THE WORLD WITH THIS EMOTIONAL STATEMENT...
before we begin I want to ask you something simple but meaningful as you listen to this message take a moment to comment below and tell us where in the world you're watching from it's a beautiful way for us to see how far this message of faith and unity can reach from every nation every heart on May 8th 2025 the world once again heard the words that make time stand still habamus Papam but even before the bells echoed through Rome I was there in Bologna standing before the people of God celebrating a feast that has always touched my soul the descent of the sacred image of the Madonna de Sanluca that morning something felt different a gentle rain families gathered eyes lifted toward Mary the air carried a prophetic silence as if heaven was preparing something that we on earth had not yet imagined as I spoke to the crowd I wasn't just a cardinal waiting for human answers i was a son returning to his mother's arms i spoke of Mary i spoke of the Holy Spirit i spoke of mothers who cry for their children and I spoke with a heart overflowing with gratitude unaware that only hours later I would be called to become a father to become Peter to carry the keys of hope my brothers and sisters I am Robert Francis Pvost i served as a missionary in the villages of Peru i rode horseback down dusty roads to bring the Eucharist to those who couldn't reach the church i looked into the eyes of simple people and saw a faith that moves mountains and now the Lord has asked me to climb a different mountain the Calvary of responsibility surrender and the care of the universal church with fear but with faith I answered "Here I am today the day I became pope Leo 14th I remember what I said publicly to the people of Bolognia where will I ever find a faith like I found in Peru and now I know that faith lives in each of you in every mother who prays in every young person who searches in every elder who waits in silence faith is alive and I have not come to be served i have come to serve it on this first day I bring no political plans no grand reforms or declarations i bring something far more precious a call an invitation a word I learned as a child and now repeat to the entire world thank you because today while the church receives me as a father I arrive as a son and at the feet of the mother the blessed Virgin Mary I lay down this new beginning long before I ever understood what a calling truly was I already knew a face the face of Mary the mother of God the mother of the church my mother i grew up with a truth engraved in my soul i was never alone and if today I became pope it wasn't because of merit or destiny it's because someone guided me by the hand even when I couldn't see the way that mother quiet and unwavering has always walked by my side and today more than ever I feel her presence that's why just hours before my election I said in Bolognia "We are not orphans not of a father nor of a mother." These were not just words in a sermon they were truth a truth I've carried with me since my missionary days in Peru when I saw in the eyes of indigenous mothers many of them widowed abandoned or forgotten the same faith I see in the image of the Virgin of San Luca they knew just as I know now that Mary never abandons her children so my first prayer as Pope Leo 14th was not a prepared speech it was a quiet plea whispered before the image of our mother don't leave me alone walk with me as you always have and I know she already is because there is no throne stronger than Mary's embrace and no pope stands without the support of this blessed mother to me this is continuity pope Francis my dear brother and shepherd had a profound love for the Virgin how many times did we see him eyes filled with tears before our lady in Rome especially at the Patza Despa today I humbly take up that same devotion not as a legacy but as a need i too need to be guided by her every single day that's why my first request to the whole church is simple turn your eyes to Mary let her not just be a symbol on the church walls but a living presence in your homes in your pain in your joy in your waiting because if she walks with us none of us is lost and if she points us to her son none of us will remain in darkness for many years I didn't wear Roman shoes i wore the sandals of a missionary i climbed mountains crossed rivers walked through dust and mud entered homes made of clay not as a visitor but as a servant there in northern Peru in the dascese of Chico I learned what it means to be a shepherd who smells like his sheep sometimes the car couldn't make it so we went on horseback but the gospel always arrived because wherever there's hunger for God he prepares the way himself i remember one afternoon some years ago a 7-year-old boy stood waiting for me holding a rosary he said "Bishop my grandma said that when you pray here my mom will get better." It was pure faith living faith i limited as I am just smiled prayed and moved on months later I saw his mother walking in the patron saints procession healed standing with tears in her eyes she didn't thank me she thanked the mother Mary and that day I understood the real miracle is the kind of faith that makes an entire family believe that prayer still heals so when I left Peru and I said this publicly in Bologna my heart was heavy i kept asking myself will I ever again find a people with such devotion such thirst for the sacred but today on the day I became pope I give thanks to God because the whole world is the field he now asks me to serve and yes there is faith faith in every corner in every town every forgotten chapel in every tear that rises as a silent prayer the faith I witnessed in Peru shaped me as a shepherd it taught me to listen before I speak to carry people's pain before raising banners to believe that no title is greater than the simple act of sitting beside someone who is suffering and today as the successor of Peter this will be my mission to listen to love to pray to be near even when the distance seems too great because with Christ and Mary no distance is ever too far and if once a horse carried me to remote communities in the Andes today the Holy Spirit carries me to the nations but the mission remains the same to bring Christ to bring comfort to bring hope and to keep walking with the people always with the people because without the people the pope is just a name with the people he becomes a father one of the deepest promises Jesus ever made is also one of the most forgotten i will not leave you as orphans these words have accompanied me throughout my years of ministry but they became more real during the time when the world stopped when the virus locked us indoors closed our churches separated families and showed us harshly that loneliness can be as deadly as disease but it was there in the silence of ICUs in desperate phone calls in quiet gestures behind masks that I came to understand the face of the Holy Spirit i remember stories from the hospitals doctors holding the hands of dying patients nurses whispering prayers before intubating someone volunteers making phone calls so mothers could hear one last I love you from a child who was leaving this world that was the Holy Spirit not as wind or fire but as embodied comfort he was present in the small the forgotten the weary he is what remains when everything else seems lost and he has never left us that rainy morning in Bologna I said the spirit is like breath and the beating of the heart two things we only notice when they're gone but without them there is no life and so it is with the Holy Spirit he is God's breath in us he is what keeps the church standing even when the world seems to be collapsing he is the one sustaining me now in this new calling as my humanity trembles under the weight of becoming Peter today as pope I say to everyone invoke the spirit in days of fear call on him when answers are missing let him whisper the spirit is Christ's greatest gift to the church he's the one who teaches us to love to forgive to endure he turns our words into truth our actions into salvation he doesn't shout he comforts and comfort is the language of heaven as this new time begins I ask that we become a church that comforts thank you so much for being here with us and for following this journey of faith and reflection if you're enjoying the content make sure to subscribe to the channel so you can continue receiving these inspiring stories don't forget to give us a like and share with your friends so more people can be touched by these messages may God bless you and everyone around you together we can spread more love and hope a church that listens a church that breathes with God's heart not one that thrives on debate but one that thrives on compassion a church unafraid of the world's pain one that enters it carrying the light of the pariclete and may we never ever allow anyone to feel orphaned not from the father not from the mother not from the church today while the world calls me Pope Leo 15th my heart remains that of a son and as a son I cannot ignore the tears of mothers yesterday is Mother's Day in many parts of the world and among flowers and tributes there is also silence some mothers cry from longing others from pain there are mothers who no longer hold their children in their arms and there are those who still do but watch them lost distant imprisoned sick or wounded by violence and indifference there are mothers like Rachel who weep because their children are no more i think of the mothers in Ukraine the Holy Land Sudan Haiti and so many places where peace is always postponed i think of mothers carrying invisible crosses i think of mothers raising children alone of those forgotten by their own children of those who pray quietly before an image of Mary pleading "Save my son protect my daughter." And I say "Those tears are not in vain they rise to heaven." And Mary weeps with you that's why my first plea to the world as pope is not a political plan it is the cry of a son stop killing the children of mothers stop wounding the hearts that bring life into the world stop ignoring the most sacred gift we have the gift of peace every bomb every bullet every abandonment they all tear through the womb of humanity and any civilization that makes mothers cry is losing its soul i don't have all the answers but I do have faith and I am certain that peace is possible that reconciliation is possible and that the world will only be made new when we begin to hear the cries of mothers as if they were the very cries of God like Peter I can no longer deny i must declare "Lord you know that I love you." And to love the Lord today means loving the forgotten children of those mothers loving through action through justice through courage so I invite all of you bishops priests lay people young people religious to embrace the suffering of these women to join the church in prayer for peace and to walk like Mary alongside every Calvary of our time because wherever there is a mother standing at the foot of the cross there too is the hope of resurrection that morning standing before the crowd gathered for the descent of the Madonna de Sanluca I looked up at the sky it was overcast a light rain was falling over us yet no one left no one sought shelter because everyone knew that the image simple silent and carried with deep devotion was descending not just for the city but for the hearts and even the rain seemed to bow before the mother rain and tears became one it was as if heaven too was crying but not with sorrow with consolation the image of Mary descending to her people is more than tradition it is a sign a gesture from heaven that says "I am with you." The historical records in Bolognia are clear in times of plague war earthquakes hunger she was invoked and she never failed never that's why when people ask me whether miracles still happen in our time I answer they do the greatest miracle of all is knowing that Mary still walks with us that she descends enters our streets our homes our pain our families and takes us by the hand there are moments when the storms feel endless the loss of a child the collapse of a home a diagnosis that breaks the spirit loneliness doubt and in those moments many believe God has gone silent but it's precisely then that the mother draws near she doesn't shout she doesn't demand she simply appears as a sign of tenderness as a light that shines after the storm and she reminds us that her son is still the way even when our eyes can't see the path the image of the Madonna de Sanluca holding the child in her arms points us to a truth the world must relearn there is no salvation without tenderness no future without faith and the greatest miracle Mary can offer us is to never let us walk away from Jesus because when she leads us to him she gives us back our very selves our peace our identity our salvation today as Pope facing a world divided wounded and weary I turn my eyes to Mary and I ask each of you to do the same consecrate yourselves to her trust her tune out the voices that mock faith or belittle devotion stand firm like children who know where their mother is because if the people of Bolognia were protected by her for centuries then we too in every corner of the world will be sheltered under the same mantle that has endured rain war and time throughout every difficult chapter in the church's history God has chosen women silent courageous faithful women and in each one of them the presence of the mother echoed mary it's no coincidence that when Jesus was dying on the cross he entrusted humanity to her "behold your mother," he said to the beloved disciple and from that moment on she entered our home and she never left mary is not just a devotional memory she is a living mission in the first reading of that deeply symbolic day we heard of Philillip full of the spirit preaching and healing but his greatest work wasn't just his words it was his availability his openness to the spirit and that is Mary the woman who was available she didn't plan the mission she surrendered to it she didn't say much but she lived every word in silence she bore the word in obedience she stood by him until the cross i believe and now repeat as pope that the church of the future if it wishes to remain faithful must become more like Mary a church less noisy and more contemplative less defensive and more trusting less dominating and more maternal we need a church that evangelizes through action that speaks from the heart that embraces without judgment a church with open doors and open ears and hands ready to serve the young people of our time don't just need spoken truths they need lived witness they need priests who weep with their people religious sisters who pray with faith bishops who know their flocks wounds they need a church that wears the scapular over its heart and a smile on its face a church that adors the blessed sacrament and visits the lonely in the hospital that is what it means to be like Mary to unite heaven and earth with a look of love today I leave this appeal as part of my mission may every parish every community every religious house look to Mary and ask "Are we becoming like her?" If the answer is no then we still have much to journey but if the answer is yes then let us walk forward with confidence because a church modeled after Mary will always be fruitful it will always be light it will always be mission when I reflect on my own journey I see the grace of belonging to the spiritual family of St augustine a saint who wasn't born holy who didn't arrive at faith with ease augustinine was restless rebellious a relentless seeker but he had a mother a mother named Monica a woman who didn't argue with him but wept for him who didn't preach with harsh words but knelt in prayer when no one was watching and it was that quiet strength that spiritual motherhood that transformed her son's restless soul into a beacon for the church today as Pope Leo 14th I want to say this the church must learn to be like Monica again instead of condemning sinners we must weep for them instead of pointing fingers we must wait with patience instead of shouting for conversion we must love until conversion happens the world is full of augustinines young people who are lost men and women searching wounded trying to fill empty spaces with things that don't satisfy the church must not push them away the church must embrace them wait for them welcome them and love them until they allow themselves to be loved by God in Bolognia on May 8th I spoke about this with emotion i said I dreamed of communities that would be like Monica communities that pray that never give up that persevere even when all seems lost how many mothers today cry alone for children who have drifted from the faith may their tears not be in vain may each drop fall like incense before God's throne because heaven listens to a mother's cry and if the church is truly a mother she too must learn to weep to weep for the souls that have wandered for the baptized who have forgotten grace for those who left the altar and got lost in the world but may we never stop hoping they'll return and like Monica may we remain faithful to the end because when prayer is persistent and love unwavering the miracle comes always so today I consecrate the beginning of this pontificate to those who wait to those who cry to those who love in silence may the Holy Spirit the same Spirit who set Augustine's heart on fire also kindle the hearts of all those who are far from home and may the church never close her doors because one day the one who once mocked the faith and may be the same one to proclaim it with tears in his eyes and fire in his soul that same day when I was still just one cardinal among many something touched me deeply during the return procession of the Madonna de San Luca I witnessed with my own eyes something the world has been trying to achieve for centuries unity i saw different communities walking side by side the Ukrainian Catholics Christians connected to the Moscow patriarchate Muldovans Italians each with their own language their own story their own pain but all walking together and above us all the image of the mother in that moment I realized something profound mary is the bond that can still reconcile what has been torn apart a mother doesn't choose her children she loves them all and Mary's love knows no political borders doctrinal divisions or historical wounds she simply descends she walks she cries with those who cry and she reaches out to bring together what we in our pride have separated that procession wasn't just a liturggical act it was a sign from heaven a silent appeal for unity the church was born united in the spirit pentecost wasn't just an isolated miracle it was the birth of a family but over the centuries we drifted apart still I believe that in this new time we are being called back to what really matters to what unites us our faith in Christ our baptism and the love of the mother and maybe if we stop arguing and start walking together side by side unity will come not through force but through tenderness not through politics but through prayer today as pope I do not bring magical solutions to the divisions between separated brothers and sisters but I do bring one certainty mary is waiting for us together and every time Christians of different traditions kneel before her something shifts in heaven the mother recognizes us and in time so will our hearts that's why I wish to be a pontiff of reconciliation a father who doesn't seek to stir conflict but to build bridges and one of the holiest bridges we have is the heart of the mother so I ask all of you Catholics across the world pray for unity pray for peace pray that the spirit will tear down the walls that divide us and that one day we may gather at the same altar around the same table sharing the same bread because the world is longing for a united church a church that speaks less about itself and more about the love that holds it together if there's one thing I've learned after so many years in mission whether in the fields of Peru the quiet halls of the Vatican or the processions in Bolognia it's that the greatest miracle God performs today isn't flashy it's not fire from the sky nor visible angels it's faith the kind of faith that moves a grandmother to pray alone for her grandchildren the kind that keeps a father from giving up on his family the kind that makes a young person walk into a church when everything inside them wants to run that silent faith is the flame still holding this world together that's why on the morning of May 8th I didn't speak of church governance or pastoral strategies i spoke of the faith I've seen in the people the faith that sustains me faith is a living response to the risen one because as the second reading said that day reverence Christ as Lord in your hearts and it is in that inner altar where every true Christian revolution begins it's not about structures it's about conversion not about titles but about testimony today as Pope Leo for Mortin I make a heartfelt appeal to all believers of every age let the world see Christ alive in you let's be men and women who evangelize not with speeches but with our way of life may our joy not depend on what we have but on what we believe may our gentleness not be weakness but the strength of the spirit may each of us be a reflection of the risen Christ in the world a Christian isn't just someone who goes to church a Christian carries a presence the presence of someone who defeated death of someone who promised "I will be with you always." That someone is Jesus and when we allow him to live in us others notice they wonder they seek and then without pressure the gospel spreads like fragrance like a flame glowing in the dark so from this day forward with humility and trust I send you out as missionaries of hope the church cannot just be a safe fortress it must be a bridge a lamp an embrace and I as your shepherd walk with you together because the mission isn't mine alone it's ours and united with Mary with the spirit with the saints who walk beside us we will be a living church one that sparks faith where only ashes once remained because Christ lives and that changes everything people often imagine the pope as someone placed high on a pedestal above the crowds but I learned the opposite i learned that before the pope is a man of the crowds he must be a man of the ground of the altar and the ground because it was on the dirt floors of Peruvian homes that I discovered what it means to be a servant washing the feet of forgotten elders hearing confessions from widows in tears bringing the Eucharist into neighborhoods made of mud and dust it was there that I understood the power that comes from God is meant to kneel not to be exalted once during a visit to an isolated community a woman placed her only chair outside her home so I could sit she remained standing i insisted we switch places she looked me in the eyes and said "Today you brought Jesus into my home and when he comes we offer the best." That moment stayed with me forever i was just a simple missionary and yet to her I carried something sacred and in that instant I understood to carry Jesus in our actions is worth more than any title now as Pope Leo 14th I remember that moment with tears held back because once again someone is offering me the chair but this chair the chair of Peter is not a throne of pride it is a seat of service a calling to let go of my own name to become a father to the fatherless to carry the weight of the church's pain without seeking applause to be a bridge even when the soul longs to rest it is altar and ground incense and dust and I accept it out of love for Christ and his church i want to be a people's pope a pope who knows the voices of the humble who isn't impressed by palaces but by worn rosaries who understands that the church's beauty is found in the faces of those who suffer pray and wait i hope that when people look at me they don't just see a leader but a brother a son of the church a servant of truth a friend of the cross and most of all I hope they feel that it is still possible to believe so I ask you brothers and sisters walk with me pray for me teach me with your witness correct me with charity and above all serve serve with joy just as I will strive to serve because the Pope is not the one above all others he is the first to kneel and if the altar is sacred so is the ground because it was there that Christ washed the feet of his disciples and it is there that I long to remain few people know this but there's a kind of loneliness that follows anyone called to lead it's not the loneliness of being physically alone it's the loneliness of the heart even surrounded by crowds a shepherd knows that at times he must walk alone he'll have to make decisions torn between the cross and the sword he'll have to stay silent when the world demands an answer he'll have to hold on to faith even when he sees it fading in others that kind of loneliness isn't a punishment it's a cross and every cross carries a secret it can only be born with love the night before my election I admit I was afraid a quiet deep fear i asked God "What if I'm not capable what if I can't understand what you want from me?" And in the silence of prayer I remembered the words I had often spoken to others do not be afraid the spirit will sustain you in that moment I felt the presence of the one who always walks with me Mary the mother she didn't speak out loud but her presence comforted me and right then I understood even when I feel alone I am never truly alone prayer my brothers and sisters is the Pope's only real refuge not the Vatican walls not the solemn rituals not the applause it is the silence of the soul before God it is a rosary prayed through tears it is a gaze fixed on the crucifix I've carried since seminary that's where I remember who I am small fragile but also a son and as a son I now speak to the whole world asking "Don't let the pope pray alone let us pray together for the sick for the forgotten for those who've lost their faith for the weary priests for the young who can't find meaning for the couples barely holding on for the hungry for those who lie awake in fear because every whispered prayer is a drop of balm upon the shoulders of the one carrying the weight of the church and believe me I will feel each one of them and I will give thanks even in silence and when loneliness does come as it surely will I know I'll be able to close my eyes and whisper like a tired child "Mother stay with me tonight." And I know she will as she always has because those who entrust their mission to Mary are never alone and if the Pope is a father it's only because he first learned how to be a son a son of God a son of the church and a child of a mother who never abandons us many believe the church stands on great decisions sinnods in cyclicals or the splendor of solemn celebrations and yes these have their place but what I've learned as a priest as a missionary as a bishop and now as pope is that what truly sustains the church are the small acts invisible anonymous a rosary prayed on a crowded bus a candle lit in a kitchen a quiet visit to the blessed sacrament a tear shed on a church pew a whispered "Our Father," before sleep these are like hidden pillars no one sees them but without them the temple would collapse i remember a woman in Peru named Dona Claraara a widow illiterate her knees worn from a lifetime of prayer she didn't know theology but she knew every mystery of the rosary by heart and when someone in the village got sick it was her home they turned to because that's where living faith resided warm faith faith that brought comfort dona Claraara never stood in a pulpit but her life preached constantly and I wonder how many hidden saints are out there holding up the church without anyone ever knowing today as Pope Leo 14th I want to say this to each of you you matter your faith matters your example matters you don't need to be a priest or a religious or a preacher you just need to be faithful where you are be a light in your neighborhood be mercy in your family be hope at your workplace because when the people of God live their faith the world begins to change not with noise but with persistence like rain that soaks the earth slowly transforming everything in time please know this every simple prayer you say every act of love every hard forgiveness every time you return to mass after being away it all has eternal weight and as your pastor I carry each of these offerings in my heart they are the bricks of the kingdom and they give me courage to press on because the church isn't built only with stone and marble it's built with living faith with the daily sacrifices of people who love God in silence whoever you are wherever you are know this you are needed god doesn't call the perfect he calls the willing and the church needs you because the mission ahead is vast and and no one else can take your place through your faith your struggles your prayer you help carry this boat forward and together we will reach the other shore because Jesus is with us and he always honors the small acts today with a father's heart and a son's soul I want to speak directly to you young people to those of you looking at me with curiosity maybe with doubt or perhaps with quiet hope I see you and more than that I believe in you i believe because despite the questions you face the fears you carry the emptiness the world keeps offering I see in your eyes the same restlessness I saw in so many young people in Peru in Italy in Africa in the slums in universities and that restlessness is holy it is the spirit calling crying out asking for room many of you grew up hearing that the church is for old people that prayer is outdated that love is weakness but I tell you belonging to Christ is the boldest act of rebellion this world needs to witness belonging to Christ is true freedom it's seeing someone else's pain and not walking past it's building bridges when everyone else is raising walls it's forgiving when the world demands revenge it's loving when love seems impossible during a vigil with young people in Bologna I heard testimonies that marked me one young man a former drug addict said "I tried everything but only in Mary did I find an embrace that didn't ask for anything in return a young woman in tears told me "I thought God had forgotten me but he found me when I went to look for my mom at church." What does this say that you are searching and the church must search for you too not with rules but with love not with walls but with welcome so I invite you not just to attend the church but to be the church to take up the altar and the streets to study and to pray to create to serve to sing to write to shout with your hearts that Christ is alive your faith is different and that is a gift the way you feel the world is more intense more sensitive that is a gift your courage to stand against injustice to fight for causes to reject a lukewarm faith all of that is a gift and I as Pope need you the church needs you the world needs you so young people don't be afraid to shine even if you're surrounded by darkness even if you feel alone even if they mock you shine shine with the light of Christ and wherever you go bring hope bring mercy bring life be rebels with a purpose be saints with boldness be prophets with joy and remember it was a young woman from Nazareth Mary who said yes and changed the world now it's your turn we've come to the end of this first message as pope but for me this is just the beginning the beginning of a mission I did not choose but I accepted a calling I do not fully understand but I embrace with all my heart today May 8th 2025 before heaven and earth before angels and mankind I consecrate this pontificate to the immaculate heart of Mary because only a mother can teach a son how to be a father and only the mother's heart can uphold the heart of a pope with every action every decision every sleepless night every silent tear shed under the weight of this mission I will entrust it all to her because I know that Mary turns everything into grace i know that in her hands even my weaknesses will serve the church and to her I entrust every priest every religious every young person every mother every poor and abandoned soul mary knows each one and just like at Kaa she still says "Do whatever he tells you." To the whole world Catholics Christians from other traditions men and women of goodwill I say "Let us no longer walk divided the world needs peace." And peace begins when hearts bow when pride gives way to forgiveness when justice is no longer vengeance but reconciliation may this pontificate be a time of rebuilding not of walls but of bridges not of imposition but of conversion and may that conversion begin in me i know hard days will come i know not everyone will understand the choices ahead but my prayer is simple that I may never drift from the gospel that I may never lose the joy of serving that I may never stop listening to the lowly that I may never trade tenderness for coldness that I may never grow tired of loving and that at the end of each day I may say with humility "Today I became a little more like Christ and now with the authority entrusted to me but above all with the love that flows from my heart as a shepherd I bless each of you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and I send you with a mission bring to the world the joy of the risen one bring Mary into your homes bring hope to the hopeless bring faith where only ashes remain and please don't forget to pray for me i need you walk with me and as Francis said before me let no one steal our hope thank you so much for reaching the end of this video your company and participation means so much to us and we're happy to share this message of faith and inspiration with you if you enjoyed what you saw make sure to subscribe to the channel to keep following stories that touch the heart don't forget to like share with your friends and comment below about what you thought of the video together we can spread more light and hope may God bless your life and everyone around you see you in the next video
